Our Attorneys

Briones Business Law Consulting, P.C, is a new kind of law firm. We are driven to be the best business law firm in New Mexico by providing outside, “in-house” counsel services through the Corporate Counsel On Demand program to businesses at a reasonable, reliable fixed rate in order to allow the client to better use and access our services.  We work directly with the owners of companies and their senior staff, meeting regularly and getting to know your business from top to bottom to become part of your team.

Mr. Briones’ practice focuses primarily in the areas of Business and Commercial law.  He is an experienced business and trial lawyer, having handled numerous complex and transactional litigation matters.

Thomas R. Briones has been a business attorney for nearly 30 years. His law firm, Briones Business Law Consulting, P.C., is a business-focused boutique law firm in Albuquerque, providing outside general counsel services to local business owners.

Tom lives in Albuquerque New Mexico with his wife, Stephanie, who graduated from UNM's School of Medicine and is currently completing her residency in anesthesiology an UNM Hospital.

Diana Torres        Attorney

Diana A. Torres grew up in a family of entrepreneurs in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her dad has owned an auto body shop for more than 20 years and her uncles and aunts have owned everything from construction businesses to real estate holding companies all of her life. Her family’s entrepreneurial spirit sparked her interest in the world of business. Additionally, Diana grew up working and volunteering for public interest organizations in New Mexico, which allowed her to see the need for economic development work in the state. The fusion of her interests in business and economic development led her to a career in business law, where she now supports local businesses that are vital to the economic development of New Mexico. In her spare time, Diana enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the great outdoors, and traveling.

Taylor Duffney, Attorney

Taylor K. Duffney was born and raised here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is tremendously passionate about working with business owners and small businesses in New Mexico in order to help strengthen and improve the local community. Taylor received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University, but chose to return home to attend law school and practice law in New Mexico. While attending law school, Taylor recognized her love for business law early on and joined the student chapter of the Business Law Section of the New Mexico Bar. This opportunity allowed her to network with likeminded individuals and gain a more intimate understanding of business law. In her time outside of the office, Taylor enjoys spending time with her family, trying new local restaurants and breweries, playing fantasy football with her friends, and traveling to new places.

Raquel Koch Vaz, Law Clerk

Raquel Koch Vaz is currently in her last year of law school at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Raquel is originally from Brazil, where she graduated from law school and practiced law in the areas of consumer rights and employment law. After moving to the United States in 2014, Raquel decided to explore her entrepreneurial side and start her own small business. In 2019, she decided to change directions and pursue her J.D. degree to become a licensed attorney in the United States. Raquel is excited to become an attorney in New Mexico and help businesses navigate the legal landscape and reach their full potential.

Monica Hernandez, Executive Assistant

Monica Hernandez is a highly-motivated and skilled administrator with a diverse background in government and non-profit communications who thrives in her role as an Executive Assistant. She manages the firm’s day-to-day operations in client affairs and office administration. Monica graduated from the University of Northern Colorado where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in Political Science and Cultural Studies. Outside of the office, Monica stays active in the community through her participation as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, local sports groups and enjoying New Mexican nature.

Vince Sandoval, Executive Assistant

Vincent Sandoval is an enthusiastic person who handles his responsibilities as an Executive Assistant with patience and tact. He is largely responsible for the firm’s finances and billing, which allows him to establish a close relationship with our clients. He is currently attending the University of New Mexico where he plans to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in Philosophy. Outside of work and school, Vince spends his free time with his involvement in local politics, writing music for his band, and spending time with his two dogs.
